How Our Admissions Committee Makes Decisions
At Mother Teresa of Calcutta Catholic School, our admissions process is rooted in prayer, discernment, and our commitment to forming students in faith, integrity, responsibility, and compassion. Admission is not determined on a first-come basis; instead, our committee carefully considers each application to ensure a strong partnership between home and school.
Because space is limited, not all qualified applicants may be admitted. Our goal is to welcome mission-aligned students and families who value faith formation, demonstrate strong academic effort and conduct, and are prepared to engage in a rigorous academic program that challenges them to grow intellectually, socially, and spiritually.
Age Requirements
Age requirements, according to Florida State Law, are followed. A child must be five (5) years of age on or before September 1 of the current school year to be admitted to kindergarten.
To enter first grade, a child must have satisfactorily completed kindergarten and be six (6) years of age on or before September 1 of the current school year. Exceptions may be made for out-of-state transfers.
Admissions Policy: The open admission policy of Mother Teresa of Calcutta (MTC) Catholic School allows no person to be discriminated against on the basis of race, color or ethnic origin, nor is the staff hired or assigned on the basis of race, color or ethnic origin. The Catholic schools of the Diocese of St. Petersburg admit students of any race, color, national and ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made available at all schools. They do not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national and ethnic origin in administration of their educational policies, admissions policies, scholarship programs, athletic programs, or any other school administered programs.
