STAR Reading and Math assessments are online assessments developed by Renaissance Learning for students in grades 1-12. In reading, the program uses a combination of the cloze method and traditional reading comprehension passages to assess a student’s overall reading achievement. In math, the program assesses fifty-three sets of math skills in four domains to determine a student’s overall math achievement. Those domains include numbers and operations, algebra, geometry and measurement, and data analysis, statistics, and probability.
Children in grades 2-8 are administered the STAR Math assessment three times a year; fall, winter, and spring. Results are sent home in Friday Folders.
